Lupron shots overstimulate the body's own production of certain hormones, which shuts down that production for as long as the shot lasts. It basically puts your body into a menopause state. Some of the side effects are hot flashes, joint or muscle pain, depression, loss of bone density, etc.
I was on lupron for 2 years before I met Dr. Sinervo. At first, my mom and I were unsure of it. It is not good for the body to be shut down like that. We then got to the point where we had to try it. For a year, I was doing great. I was getting pain flareups about once a month instead of once a week. I felt like a normal teenager again. Then during the second year, all the pain came back and it came back more frequently. We knew the lupron stopped working and didn't know what else to do. That is when we decided to see Dr. Sinervo, who saved my life.
I think that if you are debating to go on lupron, that you should maybe try it for a few months, and then be taken off of it because it is so hard on the body and I should not have been on it for two years and I do not think anyone should be. I remember when I first started getting the shots, I would get the worst headaches and hot flashes. It was horrible. It does stop your period, which is awesome, but the side effects are so much worse than a monthly cycle. I have not had a shot since April and I still have not had a period which is concerning me.
If you have any other questions on lupron, feel free to comment or message me on facebook and I would be happy to answer them!
