Heating pads

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a little bit about different heating pads and what I think helps the most. First of all for anyone with endo, a heating pad is your life savor. It is so soothing and comforting when your in pain and there are different types. I didn't know there was different kinds until I was diagnosed with endometriosis.

The one that I usually use is a rice heating pad. With this kind of heating pad you heat it up in the microwave and then just set it on your stomach. I like this one because you can carry it around and don't have to keep it plugged in. The only downside is that it does not stay completely warm for awhile. It will gradually lose heat so if you want it to last for awhile, you would heat it up longer. I usually put it in for 2 minutes.

The next kind is just a normal heating pad that is normally used. You just plug it in and it heats up. The good thing about this is that it will stay warm and you can adjust the heat. The only problem I have with this is that you have to keep it plugged in for it to work. It sucks when you need to stand up and walk since you can't take it with you and you need to be close to an outlet.

The last kind that I have tried is just like a normal heating pad but you can make it damp with water. I was recommended this by a doctor. To be honest, I don't know what the difference between this and a normal heating pad is besides that you put water on it. It honestly was kind of a pain too. The water would make me so sweaty and I felt very uncomfortable with it.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love to knowing what type of heating pads you prefer! Thanks!

One month until surgery!

I am so excited for my surgery next month! It is officially less than a month! I am excited to see if this surgery is really going to make a difference and how much it will impact my life. I am so grateful for everyone who has donated so far. If you still like to donate, I will link the go fund me account at the end of this post.

The one thing I really am hating is being on estrogen. Dr. Sinervo wanted me to go on estrogen until surgery comes. The estrogen is suppose to bring all the endometriosis that's hidden up to the surface so it's easier to clean out. I have been on it for close to two weeks, and I feel absolutely horrible. I have been in pain so much and I am so bloated which I never was before. I feel like I'm gaining weight and I'm very self conscious about it. My mood can go from one extreme to the other in one second. I sometimes just want to start crying for no reason. Every time I feel this way, I think to myself, "it's helping me, and after the surgery it will be all over." The surgery can't come soon enough. I can't wait to meet Dr. Sinervo and have my life back to normal. I feel so blessed.

Tens unit

When I first started getting pain, I used a tens unit to see if it would help my endo pain. I didn't see any progress so I stopped using it. A tens unit is a transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS) that sends electric currents produced by a device to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic reasons. It feels like it's tickling my lower abdomen. Last night, I had another flare up and decided to try it out again. This time, it felt really good on the pain but still did not stop it. It helps keep me calm as well. Sadly, I am still in pain but I am using the tens unit and taking multiple medications to help it subside. I think trying a tens unit is worth it. It not only feels good, but also relaxes you. If there is something you haven't tried in awhile to help the pain, I suggest trying it again because it may help even just a tad this time just like my tens unit is doing for me.

Surgery June 18th

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks, I have been getting pain flare ups plus trying to keep up with school work and going to appointments. A few weeks ago my mom got a call from dr. Sinervo. He told her how even though I'm still on lupron the endometriosis is still growing which we were not told. We were told the the lupron will suppress the growth of it but according to dr. Sinervo it doesn't. For those of you who don't know who dr. Sinervo is, he is an endometriosis specialists in Atlanta, Georgia at the Center for Endometriosis Care (CEC). He is known all over the world for helping women with endometriosis get the help they need. I have heard nothing but positive about him. Anyways, so we got the call from him and he said he would like to see me and do a surgery. My last surgery was only in October so I wasn't sure if it was safe to get another one yet. But I trust this doctor. He said that there is a special technique he can do that not many doctors know of that can really clean the area out thoroughly and even stop the growth. He has had a ton of success with this surgery and many of the women he has worked on have not had any pain since. On June 18th, I will undergo this surgery that may possibly give me the life of a normal teenager. This may change my life for the better, and I am so excited to have it done. Below I am attaching a link to my gofundme account which is where you can donate money to the surgery. Please help donate and get me the surgery I need. Thanks!
